Mehta recently created, wrote, and directed the 7-part Netflix series 'Delhi Crime’ (2019), revolving around the Delhi Police’s investigation of the infamous gang-rape of a young medical student on a bus in 2012. The series garnered widespread critical acclaim, won several awards - including India’s first International Emmy for Best Drama Series, and the Asian Academy Award for Best Drama Series and Best Director.

Mehta's first feature film, 'Amal' (2013), starred Naseeruddin Shah, Roshan Seth, and Seema Biswas. The film won over 30 international awards, was nominated for 6 Genie awards, including Best Picture, Director, and Adapted Screenplay, and was named one of the top ten Canadian films of the decade by Canadian trade magazine Playback. He then wrote and directed 'I'll Follow You Down’ (2013), a sci-fi drama starring Gillian Anderson, Rufus Sewell, and Victor Garber, and 'Siddharth’ (2013), a Hindi-language film that premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Siddharth received over 25 International Awards, and was shortlisted for best foreign language film at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards.

Mehta then directed the feature documentary 'India in a Day’ (2016), tracking a day in the life of India, and produced by Ridley Scott, and an episode of the Apple TV+ anthology series 'Extrapolations’ (2023), as well as his 8-part series on wildlife crime, airing in 2024 on Amazon Prime Video, titled 'Poacher’ (2024).

An award-winning Film and Television Producer / Post Supervisor, Steven has produced projects in over fourty-five countries - including Libya, India, Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Antarctica, North Korea, and beyond.

His two feature films ‘Amal’ (2007) and ‘Siddharth’ (2013) were both shot in India, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and have garnered over 50 international awards to date.  Steven produced and distributed the 42 x 1 Hour international hit travel / documentary series ‘Departures’ (2007-2010), airing worldwide in more than 100 countries.  He followed that up with Series Producing a travel adventure TV series ‘Boundless’ (2012-2016) for Blue Ant Media in Canada, and NBC Universal in the USA.

Most recently, Steven was the Post Producer / Post Supervisor for several high profile international dramatic television series, including Richie Mehta’s Emmy-Award winning police drama series ‘Delhi Crime’ (Netflix 2019), the dramatic mini-series ‘Thai Cave Rescue’ (Netflix 2022), and the dramatic series ‘Poacher’ (Amazon 2024). Steven continues to hone his expertise in the post production realm while specializing in complex international multi-language projects.
